The Dallas Cowboys are heading into the 2026 season with a championship mentality that has been impossible to miss.
From the head coach to the quarterback and now one of the team’s defensive leaders, the message has been consistent. Dallas is not settling for simply making the playoffs. The Cowboys want to reach the Super Bowl.
And the Cowboys’ star defender Quinnen Williams appears determined to make sure every player in the locker room understands that expectation.
As reported by reporter Jori Epstein of Yahoo Inc., quarterback Dak Prescott recently revealed just how strongly Williams has been pushing that message, explaining that the defensive tackle repeatedly brings up the team’s championship aspirations when addressing his teammates.
“I don’t think Q’s broken down the team or spoke to the team without saying [that], whether it be ‘Super Bowl’ or whether it be ‘championship.’ He said the other day: ‘If you’re not about that, get the f*** out of the huddle,’” Prescott described what Williams said to the team.
That is more than a motivational soundbite. Prescott’s explanation makes clear that Williams has consistently made the Super Bowl and the championship the focus of his message to the Cowboys.
And it fits perfectly with the tone surrounding Dallas since training camp began.
Schottenheimer has made the Cowboys’ championship pursuit personal. The first-year head coach has said he wants to win a Super Bowl for his late father, Marty Schottenheimer, the former NFL head coach who passed away in 2021.
For Schottenheimer, the pursuit represents more than another season on an NFL calendar. It is tied to his father’s legacy and his own desire to accomplish something his family can cherish. Prescott has brought his own emotional weight to the championship conversation.
Even after 10 seasons as the Cowboys’ quarterback, he continues to dream about reaching the Super Bowl. Prescott has made it clear that the goal has not become less important with time. If anything, years of falling short have made the destination more significant.
He has also shown enormous confidence in what Dallas can accomplish on offense, calling the Cowboys’ offense “GOTI”. The organization has attempted to match that confidence with meaningful changes on defense.
Dallas selected Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence in the 2026 NFL Draft, adding young talent to the defensive unit. The Cowboys also signed Quinnen Williams to a three-year contract, making him one of the major additions to the roster.
Then came another important change when Dallas hired Christian Parker as defensive coordinator. The Cowboys are therefore entering the season with new defensive personnel, a new defensive voice, and a veteran defensive lineman who is openly demanding championship-level commitment from the locker room.
That makes Williams’ message particularly significant. The road to the Super Bowl will require Dallas to survive an entire NFL season, reach the playoffs and win when one loss ends the season. But the destination has already been established inside the Cowboys’ building.
The Cowboys are en route to the Super Bowl in their minds. Now they have to prove it on the field.
