I remember, once I was doom-scrolling Instagram and accidentally came across a reel. In that 30-second video, one friend of a Dallas Cowboys fan asks him if he would invest in a company that has not performed well for the past 30 years. Then replied, saying no, why would he invest in such a loser company? Then that friend followed up with another question, which was more concerning: then why do you believe in the Cowboys winning this year’s Super Bowl after 30 years?
As Cowboys fans, such conversations sound funny, yet we can’t do anything but hope for the best season of the team.
31 years have passed. No Super Bowl appearance. Zero championship appearances. That’s the story of one of the teams that used to be one of the best teams in American football and made its name as America’s team.
But those 30 years of drought still haunt Cowboys fans as a generation of people born and grew up after the team’s last Super Bowl victory. That is why it still makes many hesitate to endorse the team as Super Bowl contenders.
Last week, head coach Brian Schottenheimer shared his dream with the media and fans that winning the Super Bowl will be his goal this year and he wants to win one for his former NFL coach dad, Marty Schottenheimer, who passed away in 2021. After HC, the franchise quarterback of the team, Dak Prescott, also shared his clear-cut thoughts for the upcoming NFL season by making Super Bowl or bust remarks.
Cowboys’ Super Bowl chances: NFL Network analyst makes his feelings clear
But NFL Network analyst Kyle Brandt doesn’t think so. Brandt joined NFL Network’s ‘Get Up’ program a day ago and was asked, “Is Super Bowl realistic? Is that a realistic expectation for the Cowboys?” And his reply was this.
“We’re all parents here, okay? My son recently has become enchanted with space travel, SpaceX and Elon and Bezos and all that,” Brandt said. “My son, my beautiful son, said to me recently, Dad, I think I might want to be an astronaut. Do you think I could do that? Now, it is my job to say, of course, son, anything you put your mind to. Duty. I looked at him and I said, I don’t know. Can we maybe get a B in math first? Not even an A, can we get a B? And then we’ll talk about you visiting other planets.”
He was basically saying that the Cowboys, who played in the Super Bowl game in 1995, were also the year when they won their last conference championship game. So, before dreaming about Super Bowl 61, the Cowboys need to focus on first getting into the playoffs and second winning at least the National Football Conference game. That’s what Brandt is talking about.
“Speaking of other planets, the Cowboys. Can we go to a title game first? Can we get the B? Because if the Cowboys this year, never mind the Super Bowl, if they were to lose, let’s say to the Rams, 38 to nothing in the title game, that is their best season since I got my driver’s license. It has been that long. We’ve been having this conversation for 30 years and it’s not realistic. So no, I’m not expecting it, but a title game- that’s landing on the moon. One small step for man, one small step for Cowboys. We gotta address,” Brandt said.
Well, we can’t directly throw a four-letter word at anyone who thinks the Cowboys can’t win the Super Bowl. Here, the NFL Network has a valid point. Though the whole panel of ‘Get Up’ was indirectly laughing at the Cowboys, it should fire up the hunger in the Dallas Cowboys locker room for the 2026 NFL season.
In 2024, there were multiple injuries. In 2025, Jerry Jones traded Micah Parsons, but still the Cowboys won seven out of 17 games with one tied matchup. Now, in 2026, before training camp starts, the team has to focus on what needs to be done on the court rather than just trying to sell hopes for the Cowboys fans.
The notable part of the Cowboys’ 2026 offseason was that the front office fired the inefficient defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus and hired Christian Parker, who has worked for the divisional rival Philadelphia Eagles for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, under great defensive coach Vic Fangio.
As the training camps are starting within 7 to 9 days, all eyes will be on the practice sessions, position battles and importantly, the first pre-season game on August 15, 2026 against the Seattle Seahawks. The scheduled three pre-season games will be the litmus test of the Cowboys’ Super Bowl calibre.
