The Dallas Cowboys’ training camp is making a lot of noise in the NFL world. That buzz forced many to either visit the Oxnard training camp, interview star players, or speak highly of the team, which had struggled to get an offseason seat for years.
CBS Texas’s Bill Jones was not an exception to this when they interviewed Dak Prescott on Wednesday. In that interview, the reporter asked the Cowboys QB about the 2026 NFL season. Prescott did not hesitate to give Cowboys fans a real hope that could be a reality on Feb. 14, 2027- winning a Super Bowl.
Dak Prescott believes 2026 is the year
“Absolutely,” Prescott said when the reporter asked him if the 2026 Cowboys team could replicate what Fernando Mendoza’s team did for the Indiana Hoosiers after decades, what Jalen Brunson did for the New York Knicks.
After Prescott’s one-word answer, reporter Jones tried to dive deep into what the Cowboys quarterback is thinking about winning the Super Bowl this year. “Yeah, I mean, it’s not just about me,” the QB replied. “It’s about what the organization has done.”
He continued, “It’s about coach Schottenheimer, the energy that he brings to this team and what he, Jerry, and Will McClay have done. And the personnel, the players, the men that they’ve brought over to this team. They’ve got a lot of people who have taken leadership things and things off my plate to allow me to think about playing quarterback and playing to the absolute best I can be. And just as you get older in this position, when you’re doing things the right way, you feel like you’re better and the best balls ahead of you. And I naturally feel that way about this season.”

Prescott naming the Cowboys offense GOTI, while many experienced insiders, like Adam Schefter, predicted the Cowboys defense would make us believe that this could really be the championship year for Dallas.
Why this year’s team is near perfect
According to several training camp reports, this year feels like the Cowboys’ best chance to make a Super Bowl run. Haters may not like it, but the biggest reason is that the quarterback is healthy. Even if the offense faces unexpected adversity, Joe Milton III is behind Prescott, ready to step in with his stellar throwing capacity.
After getting to Dallas in a surprising trade, Milton has been a strong backup to No.4. In 2025, Milton played four games in which he posted a 62.5 completion percentage for 183 yards, with the longest pass being 35 yards. And that’s just about one player is the offense.
The biggest weapons on the Cowboys’ offense are its two top-notch wide receivers. Apart from their best stats, ESPN ranked both of the wideouts in the top 10 WRs for the 2026 season. You might have seen how George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb are making exceptional catches at the training camp.
In a latest viral video, Lamb was seen practicing on a jug machine with a net over his head. The thought behind practicing with that net over his head was preparing himself for a nasty sunlight issue at the AT&T Stadium. Last year, Lamb dropped a catch against the Eagles in Week 1 due to the same reason.
Though Jerry Jones has hinted at making major changes to sunlight issues at the home stadium, Lamb made sure to be prepared for everything. And that’s what makes this year’s team different. “No, I just find ways to get better,” Lamb said at the time. “I want to be solution-oriented and not really dwell on the problem. Granted, we know the problem — I need to catch the f—— ball. When I do catch it, just be ready.”
On the defensive side, the Cowboys hired Christian Parker this year as a defensive coordinator. Parker has worked under Vic Fangio when both were at the Philadelphia Eagles. As a result, Prescott has also shed light on what he thinks about the defensive side of the Cowboys this year.

When Prescott was asked about the defense, he said, “When you just bring in a different coordinator and a guy of his of his nature of just the way, that he is professionally, the way that he is, you can just tell guys together.”
He added, “I’m speaking of a very prideful guy, takes a lot of pride in his job and always has, and you can tell from the guys that are on this team that have coached or been with him in the past years and just in our conversations, him explaining the defense. I don’t know if I’ve heard a more impressive guy telling me these calls, this calls, or why they did this, or how they played it off. And I know his defensive players feel that.”
Parker is a coach who believes in results and communication. Both traits are essential for winning and teamwork. I think, even though the Cowboys’ defense has been struggling to clinch higher spots in the rankings, this year could be different.
