The Dallas Cowboys released their final injury report ahead of Sunday night’s season opener against the New York Giants, with running back Malik Davis ruled out because of a hip injury.
Davis suffered the injury during Friday’s practice and was unable to participate. He is undergoing further examination to determine the severity of the injury, according to reports.
The Cowboys otherwise enter the matchup in strong health, with the other players listed on their injury report participating fully in Friday’s practice.

Davis is the only Cowboys player who carries an official game status heading into Sunday’s matchup. The running back is listed as out after being limited during Friday’s practice. His absence leaves Dallas with fewer options behind starting running back Javonte Williams.

The Cowboys could turn to Emari Demercado and Hunter Luepke for additional snaps at running back. Dallas could also elevate Israel Abanikanda from the practice squad on Sunday if the team wants another traditional running back available for the game.
Davis was expected to provide depth in the Cowboys backfield, making his late injury a notable development before the season opener.

Cowboys receive positive injury updates
While Davis will miss the game, the rest of Dallas’ injury report provided encouraging news.
Defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard, who has been dealing with a groin injury, participated fully in Friday’s practice. Offensive tackle Ajani Cornelius also practiced fully after being limited earlier in the week because of a knee issue.
Tight end Luke Schoonmaker was a non participant Thursday because of a non injury related personal matter but returned to full participation Friday.
That means Dallas does not have another player carrying a game status heading into Sunday night.
Giants also have one player listed as questionable
The Giants have several players on their injury report, but most were full participants Friday.
Wide receiver Malik Nabers is the only New York player with a game status. Nabers is listed as questionable because of a knee injury after participating fully in Wednesday, Thursday and Friday’s practices.
Shelby Harris, Bryan Hudson, Theo Johnson and Andrew Thomas all participated fully Friday and do not have a game status. Patrick Ricard also practiced fully Friday after not participating earlier in the week because of a toe issue.
The Cowboys will face the Giants on Sunday night with Davis unavailable, but the rest of their listed players are expected to be ready for the opening game of the 2026 season.
